Method
Pour boiling water over the poppy seeds and steep for 1 hour
Whip the eggs3 with the sugar until smooth
Fold in the sour4 cream and mix well
Sift in the rye flour and baking soda, stirring until just combined
Add the pineapple chunks, chocolate chips, drained poppy seeds, and buttermilk, mixing thoroughly
Divide the batter evenly into greased muffin cups
Bake for 25–30 minutes at 350°F (175°C) until golden and springy
