Milk Oatmeal with Banana and Butter

Method
Pour the milk2 and 50 ml of water into a 1.5 L pot, set over low heat and warm to about 60–70°C without boiling, stirring occasionally.
Add rolled1 oats to the hot milk2 and continue stirring over medium heat, cooking for 5 minutes until soft and smooth; the mixture should thicken slightly.
Remove from heat, add butter3 and stir until melted; pull the porridge off the stove a little before it is fully cooked so it stays soft.
Mash the banana4 with a fork and fold into the warm porridge until evenly distributed.
Divide among plates and serve warm; if desired, lightly smooth the surface and let stand for a minute.
Substitute banana4 with applesauce to taste; you can make the porridge with water instead of milk2 if needed.
