作り方
Wash the potatoes2, leaving skins on or peeling as you prefer; if desired, cut into 4 cm pieces.
Peel the onion3 and slice into 0.5 cm rings; rinse the dill5 and finely chop.
Rinse and pat dry the herring if needed; cut into portions about 4–5 cm long.
Choose a medium pot, cover the potatoes2 with cold salted1 water by 2 cm; bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce to medium and simmer for 12 minutes or until tender; test with a fork—the potatoes should be soft but not falling apart.
Remove from heat, drain, and let the potatoes2 cool slightly.
Fry the onion3: heat a little oil in a skillet over medium heat; add the onion and fry 3–4 minutes until golden and translucent, stirring occasionally.
Assemble the dish: lay the boiled potatoes2 on a plate, top with herring and onion3; sprinkle with dill5 and drizzle a little oil.
Serve with slices of rye6 bread; you can also add black bread and herbs to taste.
