Grey rows are pantry staples: salt, oil, spices. They are not counted in the serving price.

Method

  1. Wash the apple3, grate it on a fine grater, and keep it near the stove.

  2. Pour the milk2 into a pot of about 1.5 liters and heat over medium until small bubbles appear; do not boil or overheat.

  3. Add the wheat1 bran to the milk2, reduce the heat to below medium and cook for 5 minutes, stirring, until the porridge thickens.

  4. Add the grated apple3 together with cinnamon and honey to the porridge, mix and continue cooking for another 2 minutes on medium heat, until the apples soften and the mass thickens.

  5. Remove the pot from the heat, cover and let steep for 2 minutes, then give a quick stir.

  6. Divide into bowls, optionally dust with extra cinnamon and serve warm.

  7. Use an equal mix of milk2 and water if desired, you can prep apples3 in advance for substitutions with other fruits to taste, and the porridge stores well in the fridge and reheats easily.
