Honeyed Dried Fruit Compote
A homemade compote made with a mix of dried fruits, honey, and lemon. The drink is lightly sweetened and pairs well with Easter pastries.

Method
Pour 350 ml of water over the dried1 fruits, bring to a boil, and skim off any foam.
Simmer over low heat for 20–25 minutes until the fruits soften and the liquid takes on their color.
Remove the pot from heat, add a slice of lemon3, and let it steep for 10 minutes covered.
Stir in the honey once the compote is warm, then serve or let it cool completely.
Tips
- Why it works
- Пену снимай сразу после закипания, иначе компот будет горьким от разложившихся фруктовых волокон. Температура воды не важна, главное — промыть сухофрукты от пыли и серы.
- Substitutions
- Замени изюм на курагу или чернослив — по 10 г. Лимон можно убрать, если не любишь кислинку, но тогда добавь ещё 5 г мёда.
- Common mistakes
- Если компот мутный или пахнет плесенью, значит, варил его слишком долго или не промыл сухофрукты. На вкус будет горьковатым.
- Storing and reheating
- Храни в холодильнике 3 дня. Перед подачей подогрей на плите до 60 градусов, чтобы мёд не кристаллизовался.
- Serve with
- Подавай к пасхальному куличу или сладкой выпечке, чтобы смягчить жирность масла. Можно пить и просто с чаем.
