Edamame with Sea Salt

Ingredients

1
  1. 1 Frozen edamamepack 400 g ≈ $3.00 120 g
  2. 2 Sea salt 1 g
  3. 3 Sesame seeds 3 g

Grey rows are pantry staples: salt, oil, spices. They are not counted in the serving price.

Method

  1. Rinse the edamame under cold water and inspect the pods, then choose a pot of about 2 liters and fill it with water so the pods are submerged 2 centimeters.

  2. When the water boils, add the edamame and boil on high heat for 5 minutes until they are soft when pierced.

  3. Remove from heat and drain through a colander, then let the pods dry slightly for 1–2 minutes.

  4. Sprinkle the edamame with sea salt and sesame, tossing with your hands or a spoon to distribute evenly.

  5. Arrange the edamame in a single layer in a bowl and keep it warm for easy picking; eat directly from the bowl, pulling the beans from the pods.

  6. If desired, prepare a day ahead and refrigerate in an airtight container, and before serving reheat briefly by steaming or microwaving 15–20 seconds to restore the sea aroma.

In short

  • Marked healthy: the planner picks it more often for the goals “lose weight” and “eat well”.
