Method
Wash and pat the fruit dry; leave whole strawberries1 (no stems), grapes3 as individual berries.
Slice banana2 into 1.5 cm rounds, kiwi4 into thick half-moons; drizzle banana with lemon5 juice to prevent browning.
Thread 5–6 pieces onto wooden skewers, alternating colors: strawberry1, banana2, grapes3, kiwi4.
Arrange on a platter in a fan shape; for kids, trim the sharp ends of the skewers with scissors.
Keep chilled until serving, no longer than an hour.
Tips
- Why it works
- Drizzle banana with lemon juice to stop it turning brown while you work. It stays bright and doesn’t look stale.
- Substitutions
- Use pineapple chunks instead of kiwi for a sweeter taste; swap grapes for blueberries if they’re easier to find.
- Common mistakes
- If skewers look wobbly or fruit slides off, use longer sticks or thread extra pieces to secure them.
- Storing and reheating
- Eat within 2 hours or the fruit will soften. Store uncovered in the fridge for 1 day; serve cold.
- Serve with
- Pair with vanilla yogurt for dipping during a picnic or after-school snack time.
In short
- Marked healthy: the planner picks it more often for the goals “lose weight” and “eat well”.
