Dishes everyone has seen and few have tasted. Butterbeer from the wizarding school books turns out to be warm milk with caramel under a cap of cream. Cauldron cakes with cream inside and a handle made from a crispbread. Waybread with honey and nuts that elves took on the road. A sloppy joe, the bun of saucy mince from every American school canteen on screen. Omurice, where the omelette covers the rice in a dome and is cut down the middle. Melonpan, which has never contained any melon — only the shape.
The names here describe the dish, and the franchise is named in the description: we cook food, we do not trade on anyone's trademarks. Where an ingredient cannot be bought in an ordinary shop it is swapped openly: there is no treacle for the British tart, so honey and maple syrup stand in; the pink glaze on the doughnuts comes from beetroot juice, not food colouring. Cómo usarla
Press “Build a week from this collection”: the planner puts the hot dishes on lunches and dinners and leaves the drinks and desserts aside, since they are not meals. The shopping list counts whole packs, so flour, butter and cream are bought once for several dishes. Any dish can be swapped for another from the collection.
A few of these belong to a free evening rather than a weekday: melonpan proves for two and a half hours, beef in beer stews for two, the cheesecake cools inside a switched-off oven. Sloppy joes, hot dogs and omurice, on the other hand, are done in half an hour.

What is butterbeer and does it contain alcohol?
No alcohol. It is warm milk with melted butter, brown sugar and vanilla, topped with whipped cream and cinnamon — a home version of the drink from the wizarding school books.
What replaces treacle in the British tart?
Honey and maple syrup in equal parts. Treacle is not sold in an ordinary supermarket, and the filling lives on caramel sweetness plus lemon, which this pair provides. The recipe states the swap.
What is a sloppy joe?
A bun filled with beef mince stewed in tomato sauce with onion and pepper — the school lunch of American films and series. The sauce has to be thick enough to stay on the bun, which takes twenty minutes of simmering.
Are there meat-free dishes here?
Yes: fanned vegetables in tomato sauce, onion soup, melonpan, every dessert and drink, porridge with honey, pumpkin juice. About half the collection is vegetarian.
Why are the names descriptive rather than the ones from the films?
Franchise names are somebody else's trademarks, and we do not think they belong in page titles. The source is named in each dish's description, and the recipe is the same either way.
